The menpachi U’u or soldierfish is a common sight, if you know where to look. These small red fish spend most of the daylight hours hiding in caves, but you can often see them timidly peeking out of their sheltered caves. Their Hawaiian name comes from the noise they make when they feel threatened in their caves, making an “ooo” noise almost like a little bark or chirp! a delicious whole fry fish as well! 7” x 3.5”
