The ‘Ala’ihi (Sargocentron spiniferum/Saber Squirellfish) ‘Āweoweo (Priacanthus meeki/ Hawaiian Bigeye), and the U’u (Menpachi, Myripristis/soldierfish) a common sight on Hawaiian reefs. While the red coloration is often hard to see at depth, these fish still have endearing and unique behaviors that are a joy weather you’re snorkeling or spearfishing. Schools of Menpachi will often times chirp at you if you get too close to their cave, ‘Ala’ihi will flit from one cave mouth to another, turning to face you at each point, and the ‘Āweoweo is often sighted first by its glowing eyes in the depths of their caves. 12” x 18”
